We already wrote about 14 rules to increase website loading time and to detect the issues using Yahoo YSlow. Google Webmaster Central introduced page speed an open source Firefox/Firebug add on, which detects the website loading time.

Page speed analyzes the page speed and give suggestions to improve and optimize your web page.

Page speed gives reports and suggestions for the following 20 issues

  2. Minimize DNS lookups
  3. Optimize images
  4. Avoid CSS expressions
  5. Enable gzip compression
  6. Specify image dimensions
  7. Remove unused CSS
  8. Serve static content from a cookieless domain

  11. Combine external JavaScript
  12. Leverage proxy caching

  19. Defer loading of JavaScript
  20. Optimize the order of styles and scripts

Page speed an additional add on for Firebug, so it is required  to be install Firebug add on in your Firefox browser.
